What are Targeted Financial Sanctions (TFS)?
Targeted Financial Sanctions (TFS) is a term used by the FATF to describe measures to freeze assets and prohibit property, including funds and other assets, from being made available to individuals and entities designated by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). In Trinidad and Tobago, FATF Recommendations 6 and 7, on TFS related to Terrorism and Proliferation Financing, are implemented through the Anti-Terrorism Act and the Economic Sanctions Orders. These laws require Reporting Entities to implement TFS and report to the FIUTT, without delay.
To assist with effective implementation of TFS measures, the FIUTT provides Reporting Entities with an online Targeted Financial Sanctions Search Tool (TFS Search Tool) for ease of access to both the UNSC Consolidated List and the Trinidad and Tobago Consolidated List of High Court Orders from one online location. The TFS Search Tool replaces the previously published PDF Consolidated List of High Court Orders for the maintenance and circulation of the lists of designated and listed entities.
